Workspace Care & Cleanup

Students are expected to plan and perform their working processes so that public spaces, shared workspaces and shared equipment are left clean and in good working condition.

In particular, use of spray paints and spray adhesives may be used only in areas that provide adequate ventilation and that eliminate overspray.  Adequate drop-cloths or paper must be laid down for any spray-work outside of spray booths.

Note that there are ventilated booths for spray adhesive use in Art 201, and Art 211. Follow posted directions when using these booths.
Do not use these booths if the classroom is being used for a class without permission from the instructor (and don't ask for permission if the instructor is active lecturing or critiquing -- wait or go elsewhere).

— Leave the fan running for 30 seconds after spraying.
— Collect all trash.
— If there seem to be problems with the booth, fan, filters, etc., report it to the instructor.
— Collect trash in the mat cutting area when you are done.
— Get your blade out of the mat cutter and place it in a safe disposal recepticle.

Any overspray of paint, fixative, varnish or adhesives (etc.) will require that the student clean all affected areas during the work session and before the next class -- including sidewalks, grass, floors, tables, furniture and equipment.

Cleaning supplies needed to clean overspray will be at the student's expense.

Any private studio or shop space allocated to you must be kept in reasonably good order, acknowedging that working processes involve varying amounts of disarry. Your work space is not to interfere with the workspace of others, or with the general atmosphere of the shared working environment. When the period of your private workspace ends, you are to clean your workspace of any mess, report or repair any damage, returning your workspace to the condition in which it was provided to you.

In short, leave workspaces ready for the next person.
