Regarding rights to retain or reproduce student work for marketing, education, permanent collection and accreditation.

Right to samples of completed work

You may be asked to leave a project for use by the Art Department.  These projects are kept in our permanent collection of student-produced artwork.  They serve as examples for later students and as samples for various accreditation reviews.

The Harding University Catalog (2016-17 Online) states:

The (Art) department reserves the right for each teacher of an art class to retain one example  of each student’s work each semester for addition to the department’s permanent collection.

Right to reproduce course projects and sketches

Sketches, preliminary designs and final designs from projects in this course may be reproduced in part or in whole by the professor, by Harding University or by its representatives to educate and to promote the university and its programs.. While Harding University retains a nonexclusive copyright for these expressed purposes, you retain all other rights to your copyright.

You may be asked to provide documentary photos of your work, or to make your work available for photos to be taken.

Works by Interior Design students:

CIDA (Council for Interior Design Accreditation)
In an effort to comply with standards set by The Council for Interior Design Accreditation for interior design education programs, projects may be temporarily or permanently retained by the instructor. Access to these projects will be considered for portfolio reviews and interviews and must be returned to the school archives in a reasonable time period.

In practice, projects by Interior Design students will be labeled on the back with the
a) course number,
b) project name,
c) date and
d) the student’s H-number.

If such completed projects are returned to the student/designer when graded, they will then be turned back in to the professor within a week, or when the class ends at the professor's discretion.
