Course Description

This course introduces the field of data analytics, defined as the extensive use of data, applications, mathematical and statistical techniques and other skills that help businesses gain insights and understand a business performance.

This course focuses on ways to extract information from data in order to solve problems effectively. We will examine how analysts use data analysis technologies to improve decision-making. We will study the fundamental principles and techniques of data analysis, and we will examine real-world examples and cases to place data analysis techniques in context, to develop data-analytic thinking, and to illustrate that proper application is as much an art as it is a science.
